The area around Waterloo railway station. On the south bank of the Thames more or less opposite the Houses of Parliament. Waterloo Pier stood at the eastern end of Westminster Bridge.

The name by which people living around Birmingham, Wolverhampton and the Black Country  would have referred to Wednesbury, a town between Birmingham and Wolverhampton
