Crown Street was the original Liverpool terminus of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. Lord Nelson Street is next to Lime Street station. Gloucester Street used to run from Lime Street to Copperas Hill but was completely obliterated by the extension of Lime Street Station in the 1970s. Construction of Lime Street station began in October 1833 and the station opened in 1836.
