The Fragments lay upon the ground;
Like a vessel dashed before the gale,

A man, whose name was John Thomas Hirst,'
Was learning to drive when the boiler burst;
Away at it sped, as though by fate 'twas led,
And now he's numbered with the Silent dead [Note 743.2]
