Brocklebank family made their money through shipping [i]. The General Steam Navigation Company was formed in 1824 by Thomas Broclebank and W. J. Hall. The company expanded rapidly [ii] Brockelbank's Thames paddle steamer Eagle was built in 1819 [iii] and provided a service between London and Margate during the 1840s [iv]
