The hero is travelling by train to London when he falls into conversation with a widow with a babe in arms. when the train stops, the widow asks the hero to look after the baby and alights. The train resumes its journey and the hero finds he has been left with a dummy baby and has been robbed of his ticket and valuables. The loss of his ticket arouses the suspicions of the railway officials but he is allowed to travel home and pay the fare later.
